AUSSPIT RECIPES AND TIPS

Ausspit will give you the most effective and versatile way of cooking outdoors, including further design attachments to give you the ability to cook almost everything with your Ausspit.

Entrees

Garlic Prawns

  • Wash and peel prawns
  • Fit onto spikes
  • Baste with a mixture of butter, garlic and herbs to suit
  • Roast until golden brown

Baby Tomatoes

  • Coat in olive oil and your favourite herb
  • Thread onto spike and roast

Capsicum

  • Place whole on spit bar, brush with olive oil and roast until outer skin is completely blistered.
  • Remove skin and enjoy

 

Mains

Meats, steak, lamb chops and sausages

Beef Marinade

  • ¼ jar raspberry jam
  • 1½ tblsp mustard
  • ¼ cup olive oil

 Lamb Marinade

  • ½ cup olive oil
  • Oregano (or other herbs to suit)
  • Crushed garlic

Thai Marinade

  • 1 tblsp soy sauce
  • 1 tblsp worcester sauce
  • 2 tblsps sweet chilli sauce
  • 1 tblsp sesame seeds
  • 2 gloves garlic, finely chopped or minced
  • 2 tblspns olive oil

Mix ingredients together and place into container with meat and leave 3 hours or overnight. Add juice of lemons to marinade ½ hour prior to cooking. Place meat on spit and cook, basting during cooking with marinade.

Approximate cooking times for meat; 20-25mins per 500grams

Roast Chicken

  • Stuff with bacon and onion and push garlic butter under skin.
  • Fit into spitbar and roast.

Roast Venison

  • Fit meat on spitbar and brush with olive oil.
  • Brush or dribble sweet chilly sauce over the meat while cooking

 

Vegetables

 Corn Cobs

  • Push onto spikes, coat in butter and cook.

Whole Potatoes – Large

  • Wash, coat lightly with oil, fit onto spikes.

Desserts

 Hot Toffee Orange

  • Peel orange and break into sections.
  • Place on spikes and dribble with honey or Capilano English Toffee
  • Cook until hot (2-3mins)

 

Cinnamon Apple

  • Peel, quarter and wash apple
  • Roll in sugar and cinnamon while wet
  • Place on spikes and cook until just brown (too brown will taste of burnt sugar)

 

Spitmate

Bacon, sausages, meats, stir fry, vegetables, roast cashews & chestnuts.

Baby Potatoes

Wash, roll in oil and McCormicks herb mixture and place into Spitmate.

Smoke Roasted Vegies

  • Peel and chop potatoes, pumpkin, carrot, roll in olive oil and coat with herbs then place in Spitmate.
  • Cook until golden brown

 

More Tips

  • Bacon wrapped around meat and toothpicked.
  • Pork skin toothpicked to meat.
  • Baste with a mixture of butter, garlic and herbs to suit
